All About Nayburz

In The Beginning, It Was Just Paul Davis

Paul is a Denver transplant with a background in software (working at Oracle.) He lived in apartments and now lives in a house in City Park.  In both areas, Paul found it difficult to meet people because a short elevator ride or passing someone on the street was not enough to strike up a conversation. With the rise of sites like MySpace and Facebook, Paul thought he had found an outlet to meet people.  One problem...when he got there, he didn't know what to do or how to meet people that were in his bubble so to speak.

He kept getting friend requests from people like "ClubGuy" or "FunnyGirl.  Paul didn't understand this.  He didn't go to clubs because people make fun of the way he dances and "Funny Girl" looks surprisingly like Paris Hilton.  All Paul was looking for were people to have a drink with, ski with, or help him learn about the area.

Enter David Haupt

Dave founded The Onion in Denver/Boulder in 1995 and recently sold it. His background is marketing, advertising and startups. He, too, had been e-mailed by "Funny Girl " and was a little hurt to find out she truly didn't want to be his friend and, in the end, was probably a guy.

After Dave's days of fake news and advertising, he settled down in the new neighborhood of Stapleton to raise his family. It would be nice to have a site to get to know everyone around him and share babysitters, local menus, and front porch happy hours.

Enter Nayburz

There are benefits to social networking. It can be a great vehicle to meet all kinds of people. Sites like LinkedIn have proved that meaningful interactions can be formed online and our goal is to apply social networking to local communities. With Nayburz you can get to know someone online and form a relationship in the real world.

Nayburz doesn't begin and end with social networking. Why not add features that are all catered from the user's perspective of the world. Local maps, coupons, directories, forums... the possibilities are endless.

E-mail us your ideas. If it is a good one (and possible), we'll add it to the site. Give us any and all feedback!

Our Goal

We don't expect Nayburz to change the world, be valued at $8 billion someday, or have a Super Bowl commercial with a pretty brunette losing her clothes.

  • We want Nayburz to encourage more community online and in real life.
  • We want our mom's to like it (Dave's mom hated The Onion because it had curse words in it.)
  • We want Nayburz to be a continually evolving product that adds to the user experience by giving users more to do and learn while giving us more to add.
Looking to network with people in your neighborhood. Nayburz is bringing Denver Colorado together, one neighbor at a time.
